Where Is Wainuiomata

Wainuiomata is a Maori name and translates as "the big water of the headland (wai = water, nui = big, o = of, mata = headland) and is pronounced "y-new-e-o-ma-ta".

It is a little valley just over the hill from Hutt City, formally known as Lower Hutt. It is 5 minutes by car to Hutt City and 20 minutes to Wellington.

Wainuiomata has a population of about 18,500 people and 5000 houses.
